Fact 1 : Smoking is addictive.
You must accept it. If you continously don't accept it, you won't make it.
Fact 2 : Quitting cigarettes mainly lies on fighting the habit.
You should identify for yourself, what stimulate you to smoke a cigarette and nextly - change it. In my case it was stress and frustration. When I had wanted to contemplate for a while, when I had been waiting for someone, when I had been nervous I had had smoked a cigarette. Fight the habit.
Fact 3: Smoking gives fast, short-term positive effects but long-term negative consequences.
Smooth, pleasant feeling. Whole stress and tension go off your body. Raised blood-pressure.
But, on the other hand:
- Shortness of breath.
- Chronic coughing.
- Reduced overall fitness.
- Yellowish stain on the smoker's fingers and teeth.
- Smokers experience more coughs and colds as compared to non-smokers.
- Difficulty recovering from minor illnesses.
- Impotence for men, infertility for women.
- Facial wrinkles appear at an early age, making them look older than non-smokers of the same age.
Fact 4: Thinking on how money do you spend on cigarettes - do not help
Negative association don't work here. Try to motivate yourself positively. Realize how much money you will save if you give up smoking. Think that you are going to be more fit and have stronger lungs. You gonna stop stinking. You'll be able to stay inside any room as long you want, not as long before you need to smoke.
Fact 5 : Doing sports help you in quitting nicotine cigarettes
Take long strolls. Begin running for fun. Try some team sports like soccer or basketball. Take stairs rather than elevator. Run with your dog.
If only you start excercising you will see how weak your heart and lungs are.
Carry out an experiment.
1)Don't smoke any cigarettes all day and run 500 metres.
2)The next day smoke how much you want and do again the run. Difference guaranteed.
Fact 6: Stopping smoking - you needn't force yourself to do it
Your body will do it for you. Organism will reject your willingness to light a cigarette. After some time you won't be willing even to take a look at a cigarette. Quit smoking like a bad habit.
I finally stopped smoking. What now?
Great, but remember. It's extremely easy to start smoking over again. Be prepared for withdrawal symptoms including:
- increased nervousness and tension
- agitation
- loss of concentration
- change in sleep patterns
- headaches
- coughs
- strong cravings
When you manage with that, you're free.
